Providing specialized classes to children of all ages is part of The Yoga Tree vision, but these classes must be carefully divided by age. We're starting things off with some of our tiniest yogis and yoginis. This toddler age-group is a particularly challenging one to keep engaged in a yogasana practice for very long, if even at all, so this practice is designed for the parent/guardian as well. We (adults) will enjoy a childlike practice together while our little ones are present and free to engage with us and the practice, play with the other children, or maybe just wander around us in the open studio, creating their own "walking meditation" or adventure! Please bring a mat for your child and one for yourself. One adult per child is welcome to attend free of charge.
Other Notes
In 2012, we will begin a 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training program! We will be a satellite school for Integrative Yoga Therapy, created by Joseph and Lilian Le Page. IYT harmonizes very well with our vision and philosophy, so we are very excited about this new journey. We are currently working out the details of our programs but here is what we know at this time...Sally Weber is our Program Director, Tom Beall is our Asana Instructor, Maria KaliMa is our Anatomy & Physiology Instructor...and it's going to be a great experience! If you'd like to be added to our interest list, please contact us via the e-mail form on our contact page.

You’ve probably noticed, but in case you haven’t, there is a message above our studio doors which reads, “Kindly remove your shoes before entering our sacred space of practice.” This is very important to us for a few reasons...It’s nice to know that the things that grab onto our shoes will not be tracked onto the floors where we lay, crawl, etc. We also offer it as a symbolic gesture of respect for the space and others in the space with you. Our shoes represent “where we’ve been” (the past) and “where we’re going” (the future). When we choose to practice Yoga, we’re deciding that it’s time to be in the present…so, in letting go of the past and future thoughts that we so often find ourselves trapped inside of, leaving our “shoes” at the door can be a very helpful “first step” in finding our presence.
“I accept responsibility for the energy I bring into this space.” This is the central affirmation that everyone in The Yoga Tree family chooses to honor . Energy is very real…it may not always be seen to the naked eye, but it’s there, it’s here, it’s everywhere. We are the conductors of energy and we have the power to affect everything around us, both positively and negatively. The Yoga Tree exists with intent to help heal the world… Thank you for choosing to be positive in every thought, word, and action!
“When your body, mind and soul are healthy and harmonious, you will bring health and harmony to those around you and health and harmony to the world – not by withdrawing from the world but by being a healthy living organ of the body of humanity.”
- B.K.S. Iyengar
